10 Movies & 3 Shows That You Should Stream this Weekend
MOVIES
1. Ferris Beuller's Day Off - Netflix: The John Hughes classic is always a fun rewatch. Personally, I just filter out any of Broderick's Irish activities out whenever I watch his movies. It helps the
2. Lawless - Netflix: This movie is not the best movie ever by any stretch, but I have a big soft spot in my heart for it. Guy Pearce is a great villain and I love Hardy's bonkers accent AND Shia's overboard performance.
3. We're The Millers - HBO Max: We recently interviewed Will Poulter recently and it reminded me of how delightfully funny this movie was.
4. Blood Diamond - HBO Max: I think this movie is underrated in the Leo catalogue. Great action, really great drama and an incredible performance from handsome man Djimon Hounsou.
5. Poltergeist - HBO Max: This is one of the greatest movies in both the horror and supernatural genres. A must watch for fans of either genre.
6. Snatch - Hulu: I've probably recommended Snatch a trillion times in these blogs and I will continue to do so. It is so easy to watch, so charming and so wonderfully Guy Ritchie that I don't see how anyone could hate it.
7. Meet The Spartans - Hulu: I recently saw this on the Hulu landing page and popped it on to see how bad it was on rewatch. And you know what, it was kinda damn funny. Maybe a lot more ironically so now than when I watched it in middle school or whatever. But still.
8. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou - Prime Video: Among the Wes Anderson catalogue, this might be the most palatable for people who aren't into his spiel. Great acting from Bill Murray, a solid storyline and a very pleasant presentation.
9. The Host - Prime Video: This Bong Joon Ho(Parasite) movie rocks. A solid creature, great storyline with really good suspense.
10 Fight Club - Prime Video:
SHOWS
1. Fargo(Hulu) - I don't think every season is of the same quality, but that is sort of the good thing about the show. They all take place in different time periods with a different cast and tell their own story.
2. Cowboy Bebop(Netflix): The live-action adaptation is coming soon, but there is nothing it will be able to do to top the anime. It's basically The Mandalorian before The Mandalorian as far as space westerns go.
3. Wellington Paranormal(HBO MAX): I really liked this last season of the show, and I think fans of Taika will love this show in general. Witty, goofy humor in only the way New Zealanders do it.
P.S. If you got the fight club joke, bravo.
